Chairperson:
Matt Helleman. B.Soc.Sc, B.A.(Hons).
Matt has a background in policy analysis and advocacy with experience in both the domestic and international sphere. He also has a background in charities law and governance. His current interest is in communications, framing and public engagement as a catalyst for initiating policy change.

 

 

Treasurer:
Cheri Wright Kaguah. MSW, Certificate Adult Education, B.A.(Anthropology/Geography).
Cheri decided at the age of 16 that she wanted to be a community development worker in sub-Saharan Africa, and that's just what she's been doing for much of her adult life.  When people ask her how she got into such a career, she explains that it's "the family business".  Daughter of Sauti Moja founder, Tim Wright, as well as the courageous and compassionate Lil Wright (in whose honor Sauti Moja was initiated), Cheri grew up with a heart for the people of Africa.  With years of community development experience including 7 years of living and working in Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, and Botswana), she's thrilled to be able to support the work of Sauti Moja as a trustee. 

Larry Loewen-Rudgers. Ph.D Agronomy, M.Sc., B.Sc.
Larry has over 12 years experience in university research and teaching in both agriculture and international development.  He also has over 22 years experience in relief and development in Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia, Somalia and Nepal.  Most of Larry's international focus has been on program management, food security, sustainable livelihoods, agricultural research and more broadly focused community development in Sub-Saharan Africa.  He has extensive experience with the Maasai in Kenya and Tanzania.

 

 

Sheila Stam
Sheila is a mental health advocate and program manager who has many years of international experience with various development agencies, including World Vision, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and War Child. She has managed programs in Haiti, Darfur, Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan and Somalia.

 

 

 

Kathy Platt
Kathy is a retired United Church Minister.  Her education for Ministry included a focus on social justice, which was enhanced by a global perspectives tour to Nicaragua and Costa Rica.  In 2011, she accompanied Tim Wright on a trip to Marsabit and Longido, which was the beginning of a heart-felt connection with the community of Sauti Moja. She is delighted to contribute through the Sauti Moja leadership team.

 



Colleen Emary MSc Public Health Nutrition, BSc Nutritional Science
Colleen has over 20 years of experience in international health and nutrition, including supporting humanitarian responses in Democratic Republic of Congo, Chad and Bangladesh. Her areas of expertise include infant and young child feeding, and prevention and management of malnutrition. 




Operations and Administration:

/Executive Director:
Tim Wright. M.Sc., B.A., B.S.A, Diploma Education.  
Tim co-founded Sauti Moja, and has a range of technical and management skills acquired over 35+ years of professional experience, including program management in seven countries and consulting in nine others. His relief and development expertise was gained through employment with the Government of Canada, Canadian Red Cross, NGOs (World Vision Canada and Food for the Hungry International), and church agencies (United Church of Canada and Presbyterian Church in the United States).  Tim’s international focus has been on program management, food and nutrition security, and sustainable livelihoods.

 

Tanzania Partnership Manager:
Corey Wright. PhD Anthropology, M.S.W (Community Development), B.A. (Sociology). 
Corey Wright has practiced international community development for 20 years in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia. He is a Co-Founder of both Sauti Moja and Sauti Moja Tanzania, Professor of Intl Development Studies at University College Utrecht (UCU), and Director of UCU in East Africa program. He spends about two months each year advising and supporting programs in rural Maasai communities, is on the Board of Sauti Moja Tanzania, and on behalf of Sauti Moja, supports SMTZ operations. (In 2018, he was traditionally initiated and appointed as leader in the Maasai community.)

 

Communications and Program Management:
Lyn Bishop. Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP); Conflict Management and Mediation Certificate; Peace-building & Development Certificate
Lyn Bishop is a Co-Founder of Sauti Moja and a human resource professional with expertise in international development as well as peace and conflict resolution.  She has worked with several international humanitarian agencies – World Vision, Red Cross, Mkombozi Street Children, GTZ, etc. – in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Tanzania, Panama, Haiti, and Syria.  She leads organizational development, marketing using social media, and peacemaking and vulnerable youth projects. 


Administrator:
Joanne Allgoewer. MA Economics, International Community Development Certificate. 
Joanne's diverse background includes working as a Policy Analyst with the Canadian Department of Finance & Treasury Board Secretariat and heading up her own company, allgorithms inc., a distributor of computer training products to the non-profit sector.  Joanne is a relative newcomer to International Development but has established strong relationships with the Maasai community in Longido, Tanzania, during three 3-month visits volunteering in various capacities.
