Sauti Moja's Gift Guide
In accordance with Sauti Moja's current project priorities, we invite compassionate Canadians to provide financial support for one or more of the following, and in so doing, receive a tax receipt.

Morning milking

$500 for a camel to feed a widow's family

This gift will provide critical support to a Rendille or Samburu widow desperately struggling to feed her children.  A camel is the most drought-hardy animal, and provides a reliable supply of milk, the staple food of desert nomads.  Sitayon is overjoyed at having enough milk for her children in spite of more frequent and severe droughts.  And, your gift multiplies; the first female calf is passed-on to another widow.

Lucy with shoats
$250 sets up a child mother in business

You will provide a child, who has been chased from home and school due to her pregnancy, with business training and a grant to start a small business.  A donor helped Lucy begin buying and selling sheep and goats.  Now, she can care for her little boy without having to resort to degrading survival tactics that jeopardize their health and well-being.

Borana woman carrying water

$175 for a donkey reduces a widow's work

If you give a female donkey, this will ensure that the workload of a Borana woman is reduced, especially the burden of carrying 20 L of water for up to 10 km each day.  Sauti Moja purchased donkey for Guyatu and now, she has to fetch water only every other day.  This leaves her more time for child care and income generating tasks that procure food for the family.  Again, the first female offspring is passed-on to another needy widow.

PLWA

$75 buys 2 goats for a needy mother

You can purchase two mature female goats, which will be donated to a Maasai woman with life-threatening illness – often AIDS.  The milk improves nutrition and ensures effectiveness of drug therapy.  Sale of surplus milk and male offspring, from the four that we will give her, boosts family income that ensures adequate health care and provides for the education of her children.

Counselor Koko

$50 for AIDS counseling and ARV access
Your gift will provide a one-month stipend for Koko, a highly-respected Maasai woman and trained counselor to mothers who have been newly-diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.  This gift will also pay for a mother’s trips to an urban center where she can access ARV treatment – her only hope to live long enough to raise her child.
